Raise the Paddle
This is a very important part of the evening where guests are asked to pledge money toward items requested by eight of our grant organizations. This year the following non-profit organizations need your help in obtaining much needed items. Check these out and Raise your Paddle for one or more of the 2007 Grantees.
Camp Rising Sun is New Mexico’s only camp designed specifically for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They need a Project Adventure Challenge Kit priced at $1500.
Canones Early Childhood Center offers quality development, serving children ages 2 to 5 years old. They need a “up to code” refrigerator for the kitchen to assist them in qualifying for the New Mexico Child Care Food Program. The cost of the refrigerator is $1500 plus shipping.
Future Foundations Family Center located in Grants, New Mexico provides a multitude of programs and services geared toward youth development, family support and community strengthening. They would like to purchase the materials to build a hoop house $1000.00 (similar to a green house) and a rain gutter $500.00 that will channel water off the roof to a water tank that will be used to water a community garden.
Gerard’s House supports children who are grieving the death of someone important in their lives. Through weekly support groups and summer camp, they help children go through the difficult emotions of grief in healthy positive ways that promote growth and healing. They need a Dell Dimension 9200 computer and monitor and a HP series D4100 printer and the cost is approximately $1250.
Life Options Academy helps teen mothers transform their lives by providing innovative life skills training and hands-on school and career mentoring in order to break the cycle of poverty and abuse that teen pregnancy may perpetuate. They are requesting an on-site storage unit which will allow them to store collected donations, organize the donations and distribute them to the residents as needed. The cost of the unit is $1500.
Mesilla Valley CASA recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to advocate for children in foster care. They are requesting a computer and printer/scanner for their Office Manager. The cost of the computer processor, monitor and printer/scanner is approximately $1500.
Self Help, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need in Northern New Mexico by providing crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, school supplies and seed/education grants. They need $400 to purchase an Olympus SP-510 digital camera.
Truchas Services Center, Inc. provides community leadership, administration and organization for service programs that develop the diverse cultures of the region through education, the arts and community involvement. They are requesting a Freedom Desk Package costing $1379.00 plus freight of $290.68.
